About: Uttarramcharitam
The Uttararamacarita is widely regarded as the author's masterwork and holds a very high position in Hindu dramatic literature. A true dramatist and poet would have had an active imagination, an exuberant fancy, an appreciation of the sublime and the beautiful, high power in characterization, a thorough understanding of the workings of the human heart, and a ready sympathy with suffering humanity.
Bhavabhuti seems to have had all of these qualities. He also possesses an almost unmatched grasp of language, and his verses have a beatific rhythm and melody. He is an expert in portraying the range of human emotions, and he consistently exhibits a deep understanding of the most well-considered circumstances. to improve the sense of his descriptions of these feelings.
His Uttararamacarita is fundamentally a sorrow-filled drama, hence it is not unjustified in the slightest for him to subtly claim that he captures the one emotion of pathos in all its colors and phases.
